Council Meeting Results

Tuesday was an interesting day. We had the recall election, which failed. Councilman Buckley will retain his position on the council. It's just too bad the taxpayers have to foot the bill for an election that clearly by the results, no one wanted to see succeed.

We also heard the appeal made by Trevi owner Michel Knight. There was much discussion, but in the end we voted not to revoke his C.U.P. at this time. Rather, we made an offer; Trevi brings everything up to code standards and agrees to drop the lawsuits he has brought against the city. He has until March 23 to accept the offer. If he does not accept, his C.U.P will be revoked.

Give Mr. Knight the bill, he should have to pay for all of this crap he put the city through. Deport him back to wherever he came from! I say Hurah for the city! Next time you want to recall someone, have a valid reason! You madam stayed cool through the whole thing, thank you for not acting like a fool like some others.

I agree. Good job keeping your cool. And I think it just shows again how fair minded the council is when on the very eve of the ridiculous, expensive recall election orchestrated by Mr. Knight, amid all his lawsuits and attempted bullying, the city extends yet another olive branch and gives him one more chance to come up to code and become a valuble member of the community rather than a continued liability. I'm not holding my breath though...I think the 23rd will come and go and the drama will unfortunatly continue. It will be interesting to see if Councilman Hickman continues to fight for him if he fails to meet the March 23rd deadline.

I for one am very glad the recall failed! Shame on you Mr Knight. And shame on you too Mr. Manos.

Mayor Melendez,

I am very proud to have you as our Mayor! You take care of business in a very professional manor despite the actions of certain other council members. Mr Knight filed a frivilous lawsuit which has no merit. The building in question fall under the category of existing non-conforming and are not required to have sprinklers. It was an attempt to intimidate the City. MR. Knight has been involved in many lawsuits for failure to pay. This include the most recent one with his landlord. Mr Knight thinks he is dealing with a third world country where intimidation and money can buy his way. Incidentally Mr. Knight was not out of town on the day of the appeal and was seen on main street. I would encourage anyone to view the Riverside County court WEB site and read the documentation regarding Mr. Knight especially the case regarding Mr. Ziegler vs Knight. This suit has been going on for several years and demonstrates Mr. Knight strategy, drag it out as long as possible with the intent to drain the opposition of resources to fight the battle. Mr. Knights Permit should have been revoked. Even if he signs an agreement with the City it is meaningless as Mr. Knight has shown repeatedly that his word whether written or spoken is not one that can be taken as truthful.
Keep up the good work!
Respectfully

I respectfully disagree, I think you guys should leave the man alone and let him conduct his business. There are plenty of other establishements in town that break the rules and they aren't being threatened with being shut down. Alot of people go to Trevi and we don't go to the parties at night. We go to bowl and have fun with our friends and families. Don't take away the one place of entertainment we have in this town! I do however agree with how you have handled yourself, at least that was respectable and I'm sure it wasn't easy.

I live in Wildomar but have grown up in Lake Elsinore most my life. Me and my girlfriend take our kids to Trevi all the time as well as adult night out to some of these events which we realt enjoy so we don't have to drive far like Temecula or further. With all this I have been reading in the paper, to me it seems like the counsel and this owner all have big EGOS and the real people this impacts are the residents like me. The ones who like to go there because there is no other nightlife in Lake Elsinore except dive bars. I beleive no one on the counsel goes there so its realy easy just to revoke this or that because they personaly don't go including the police chief. STOP BEING DRAMA MR. KNIGHT AND THE COUNSEL. It's only affecting the community! I don't care about Mr. Knight and his personal affairs or Buckley as well. Just let Trevi be. Show me what would be better at that location?? Sit empty again for years. Sorry a little rant there..lol but thats how a feel on the outside looking in.

By the way realy nice blog Melissa :)

The issues have never been about the bowling alley and its permit and operation are not in question. The problem has been the Illusion night club and the events held there. The conditions of approval for the club required Trevi to notify the Police Department of the date, time and expected number of attendees. Along with that adequate security personnel based on the number of expected attendees as well as monitored video surveilance during hours of operation. Rave events were advertised on the WEB and the P.D. was never informed as required. Exit doors were locked. Mr. Knight denied any responsibility for these actions These are some of the reasons his permit is under consideration for revocation.

Today, the presumtion is in favor of Sir Knight. Unless the intention to create a more limited modified condition's are defined. Fellow Servant rule which absolves the city of liabiltiy for injury, negligence and
general control will not prevail. Where allegations of fraud are found and attacking false testimony of council
you must barred the "Magee Unwarrented Procedural Merits"
before the deadline of the 23rd. Welcome to Sir Knight's
castle.

Well I have taken my kids to go bowling at Trevi many times. Each time of course they practically turn me upside down to shake any loose change out of my pockets to play video games.

The drama that has taken place with respect to Trevi is too much, you're right, and I think we all agree. And I sure don't want to see it end up an empty building, it has so much potential.

We are at the point where I think it has all come to a head, and tempers have simmered, so now let's see how we can work this out. I think both sides want resolution, just have to find the middle ground. Thanks for your two cents everyone, I appreciate it.

Here is the Myspace link for Trevi Entertainment and their "Foam Party". This is what we can expect for Mr. Knights and live entertainment permission....

I don't see why you people are giving him more time. how much time have you given him already? he costs us money, pulls a recall, lies about it, brings another lawsuit and you guys think he's going to stick to his word not to sue? doubt it, but good luck anyway.

I applaude the leadership shown by the Mayor, and the patience shown by the counsel. Tuscany Hills went through a recall a few years back. That Italian opera resulted in a disfunctual board of directors, a loss of respect for the Tuscany Hills community, and a setback for the homedowners. The lessons learned for me, was that it took plain hard work to determine if someone is not telling the truth, and someone will always believe those that lie. I'm happy you reinforced what I had learned.

We have a had dealings of business with this center and they have debateable accounting practices. Even if we have to sacrifice and close the entertainment center, we can't let businesses into our community that do not desire to or follow the laws. Our city government in place now, I think, will not allow these types of businesses coming into our neighborhoods and then having to deal with these issues after. We are not so desperate for businesses that we can't look for bettering our community going forward. You can see the differences between Lake Elsinore, Murrieta and Temecula. We can learn from them.
