Recall Election Forum
A forum will be held Thursday, January 21st at the Tuscany Hills Clubhouse. This will give residents a chance to ask questions of councilman Buckley, who is being recalled in a special election on February 23, 2010.
The forum will also have as guests the three candidates seeking to replace councilman Buckley, who are Jimmy Flores, Steve Manos and Phil Mendoza.
The forum is from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Tuscany Hills Recreation Center, located on the corner of Summerhill and Via Scenica.
Go all the way up Summerhill until the road flattens out, you'll start to go downhill a bit, Via Scenica is on the left at a crosswalk.
The event is sponsored by the Lake Elsinore Citizens Committee.
Committee leader Donna Franson is accepting e-mailed questions from the public, which can be sent to donnatom7@verizon.net

How long has he been in office and who are the people running against him? Do you know them and would you vote for any of them?
I believe Mr. Buckley has been in office for 8 years this November.
The candidates running against him are listed above in the post. I do know all of them, though admittedly not very well.
I highly recommend you go to the forum to hear from all of them for yourself.
For the person above asking how long has he been in office - pls, attend the forum. Steve Manos, I know for certain he is friends and supports the guys who want a Medical Pot Bldg. so with that in mind...I will not vote for him and my friends.
The whole recall is an absurd waste of our money! If these people aren't happy with Mr Buckley's performance they are free to back a candidate to run against him in November. To spend so much money on a special election in these economic times is outrangeous and therefore I will be voting no on the recall. And I'd be hard pressed to vote for any of these candidates even in November just because they are taking part in this circus. If a community elects someone to office, you don't get a do-over just because you don't like some decisions they have made. It didn't work with Gray Davis and Arnold and it won't work here. This is just dirty politics being forced down our throats. I don't personally know Mr Buckley but support him in this simply because this seems to be a very obvious, calculated, back door into the council. I am curious to perhaps get a glimpse tonight into Mr Manos real agenda.
Poster 1-21, if any of the council members have or are conducting illegal activities then there should be an investigation and a re-call if needed. We don't need dirty politics in our community. Councilmen Buckley's performance apparently has been challenged and the community has spoken and whatever needs to be done will be done for the goodness of the community.
I agree that it is absurd to waste this much money on a special election just to satisfy the egocentric desires of one individual. If we allow individuals to get away with this, there will no longer be any stability in Lake Elsinore government. Where is the evidence that Mr. Buckley did anything wrong? Have there been any formal charges brought against him? NO! Anyone can hire a professional petition company and probably get enough signatures to recall God Himself.
If anyone is considering voting for the recall, just drop by any City Council meeting and see how hard these people work. Mr. Buckley has served this community for 8 years plus and has done great things with the RDA. Cast your vote on fact. It just doesn't make any sense to spend $50k on a special election with November right around the corner. Look closely under the rock where the proponents of this special election reside and question why the City should sacrifice so much money to satisfy the resentments of a few.
I am completely not a fan of the recall. It is a waste of our money and indulges Mr. Knight (owner of Trevi) who evidently did not get enough out of Mr. Buckley by torching two of his cars and threatening to burn down city hall. I don't think Mr. Buckley is the best representative for the city. I voted for him twice but would not do so again. To my knowledge, he has never been present for the Invocation or the Pledge of Allegiance. I find this unacceptable.
That being said, let's vote him out in November. I am just as disappointed in the three candidates running in the recall. They are also partly to blame for the increased cost. If there was no one willing to run as a replacement, then it would be hard to have a recall. I know one of the candidates pretty well and I was shocked and dissapointed when I saw his name there. I am voting in the recall, but to not actually recall Mr. Buckley and I hope that for the sake of throwing it back into the face of Mr. Knight, who is (in my opinion) a terrorist in the community, not recall Mr. Buckley. Mr Knight wants one of his supporters in that empty seat. At least Buckley has had the courage to stand up to him even after being threatened and having his property vandalized by Mr. Knight.
Tell Mr. Knight he can take his recall and shove it all the way up with a red hot poker!
Wow...have you read the Press this morning? Mayor, I know you have no control of these yahoo's. Mr. Knight if the City of Elsinore is so bad close Trevi - And for Mr. Buckley leave the recall alone, walk away, and save the tax payer money. Our city needs to rest from bad publicity!!!
