Council Meeting Update

Tuesday's city council meeting has no public hearings, but there are three business items. They are as follows:

1) Graffiti Action plan update

This item is to update the City Council on the ten strategic initiatives contained in the Graffiti Action Plan, and a project schedule for remaining tasks.

2) Extention of time for Tentative Tract Map No. 31593

This item is to adopt a resolution approving a request for an extension of time of 24 months for Tentative Tract Map No. 31593. The project area is in the northeasterly part of town, east of Camino Del Norte and south of Wasson Canyon.

3) Resolution setting the date of recall election, Regulation of candidate materials and costs, Establishing runoff election for ties, and requesting Registrar of Voters to render election services.

This item is to set a date for the special recall election of Councilman Buckley. There are four dates from which to choose;

January 26, 2010
February 2, 2010
February 9, 2010
February 23, 2010

That's about it, if you have questions or concerns, let me know!

ITEM #3. Jan. 26th. The sooner the better. Get it to the voters and out of the news.

What is being done about graffiti and how is this plan going to help? What happened to the cameras you guys bought? Are they working?

I agree, I'm tired of seeing it in the paper, it's embarrassing. Get it over with already.

Melissa, I was looking at the city web site tonight during the city council meeting and wanted to look back at some information from a previous city council meeting. Shockingly, I noticed there are no minutes dating back to May... can you tell me what is happening? When can we expect updated minutes on the internet?

Hmm, I think there obviously is a problem, because I just looked at the city website and saw that the minutes are all there except for the ones from the last meeting.

Try this -
1) Go to the city home page, then...
2) Click the blue button on the left that says agenda & minutes, then...
3) click the check mark under agenda/minutes for city council, then...
4) click view past meetings, then...
5) from this page all the minutes are viewable except for
9/22/2009 and 10/13/2009

Let me know if this works, and if you could let me know what steps you went through originally I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to figure out what page you were on that didn't show any minutes, very strange!

Go to the video on demand page. It has minutes from the April 28 meeting but nothing else. I found the information from your instructions, thanks. Maybe reflect the minutes on the other page to.

The city is doing everything we can to combat graffiti. The cameras are in place, are working, and should help in catching the vandals, or at in least scaring them off.

Staff has oulined an entire plan, which the Public Safety Advisory Commission helped with, to try to hit all the angles, from contacting businesses who sell paint, schools, parents, you name it. We should be getting another update in a few months as to how the plan is working. And we have partnered with the Orange County Sheriff's Department in sharing software for tracking, which saves us about $28,000 a year in costs.

Now if only parents would just keep an eye on their kids and what they're doing...

I'm surprise no one said something about how much it will cost the tax payer to do the recall? Did I see 20 or 30,000 +.

Actually, we're told between $30,000 - 50,000, depending of course on if we're lucky enough to combine our election with the county's. Again, the council does not get to decide whether or not there is a recall election. The registrar has already certified the petition, which means there will be an election. If a council refuses to set a date, the registrar sets one for them.

Buckely needs to resign. After his DUI arrest he really is a disgrace to the Council and to the taxpayers of this City to have him as a representative. He has been seen for years at various bars in town, drunk i'm surprised that it has taken this long for him to actually be arrested.
