Shameless Plug
Thanks to the Californian for giving me a rose! Always nice to be appreciated.
The 'Voice of the People' award
A rose to Lake Elsinore Councilwoman Melissa Melendez, who has made her Web site interactive, allowing residents to add their ideas, comments and opinions to her blog not just for her to see, but for anyone who's interested. It's a step beyond e-mail ---- which people are also able to do, of course ---- allowing full-on discussions of city issues.
Politicians always say they are in tune with their constituents. Melendez is making it easier for them to get her ear.

This was an awesome idea and it is refreshing to see that someone in the Council actually cares about the voices of those that live in the City. Great job Melissa, you are just the breath of fresh air that was so needed in this town!!!
Melissa you not only deserve one rose, you deserve a whole dozen ... this is a great idea and thank you for the chance to comment.
Elizabeth, you are very welcome. I think all of the comments on this blog are proof that as residents, no one has checked out and given up like some say, everyone just wants a chance to talk without having to listen to political mumbo-jumbo. Just tell it like it is, that's what I say.
YES! this is good, listen to the people you represent, it shows character, good faith and willingness to be truly representative.
You ROCK! I love this blog, you can't get a straight answer out of anyone at city hall. You can't even get them to be polite for crying out loud!
Thanks for being so pro-active. You're such a gem to this City! Keep up the good work!
